Day 17, 12/10/2011:
The Lion Rank for the Zoo this morning was "Calm", so there were no lines at the park. I am not sure what I was expecting, with exhibits and out buildings like "Noah's Ark Vistor Center". They indeed have all of the animals listed as being on the Ark at the zoo, which I admit I found humourous. I have to wonder what God thinks about one of his bible stories being a center of tourism now? Anyways, it was a pretty if crowded zoo and I have to admit I didn't enjoy myself as much. There may not have been any lines when we arrived but by midday it was crowded. I didn't bother to look at the Lion Rank on our way out. We dined on Middle Eastern fare at Ima, just over 4 kilometers away, passing by Jerusalem University and The Knesset on our way back to the airport. We did this on some advice by a another American couple who was vacationing that we met. They were right - we did get to see a lot of Jerusalem in this manner and some great food.
Day 18, 12/11/2011:
Upon our arrival in Cairo, Egypt we were pointed to a television set on the wall displaying the follwing:
WARNING: As of November 2011, Egypt is experiencing a series of political protests, which has resulted in violent clashes between protesters and military police. Travelers should avoid non-essential travel and exercise caution; in the event of demonstrations, travelers should remain in their residences or hotels until the situation stabilizes.
With this in mind we canceled our plans for the day, checked into our hotel that we had reserved and ordered room service. And slept. Tomorrow we're off to India!
